In today's paper... Miller's Believe it or ... say what? by Dave Miller, Hi-Desert Star

YUCCA VALLEY -- They stood together bushed, having just run the annual Grubstakes 5K Run Sunday morning.
Not just ho, hum, we ran, we finished!
But, we ran and won medals!
It seems that Lucinda Morrison and her friend Melody Culver, both teachers at Onaga Elementary School, had the desire to run the good race.
You would think that such a worthy goal would draw strong support from their husbands, Tony Culver and Brett Morrison.
Our guess is that had the two guys been awake, they probably would have supported their wives, but alas, when asked where the doubting Tony and Brett were Sunday morning, the wives' reply, "In bed, sleeping!"
Complicating the matter, while the two guys snoozed happily, 6-year-old student Bradley Soares, 6, a first grader, could hardly wait to get to the race to root for his favorite teacher.
"She (Mrs. Morrison) did good ... very nice," said Soares.
Not only nice, but Culver won a second place medal and Morrison captured a third place medal in their respective age divisions.

Times by AGE DIVISION were also included in the paper but bribes were accepted not to include those here.

Fundraiser - Send home flyers regarding Mile-a-thon, bake sale, rummage sale and car wash. Mile-a-thon sponsor sheets are in the office.

Upper Playground Girls Restroom - You may have noticed that the restroom has been running out of paper frequently in the last few weeks. Because some girls have been wasting paper by pulling it out and leaving it on the floor, the custodians have been reducing how much they fill it. If you want a well stocked bathroom, don’t waste the paper.
